The Anniversary model, besides having special engraving and presentation, is the same flute as the 665 and 765 with the standard options from the Coda models- Solid 10K lip plate, C# trill, and a D# roller. Dolce and Elegante come with a rather nice wood case. Dolce and Elegante have the Forza AND the keywork is much more robust. 505-765 all have the same stock student cut. The big differences between the models mentioned- namely 665/765 and Dolce is as Phineas mentioned-the Forza headjoint. Hang out for a while, and JoeB the Pearl flute rep may chime in on this thread. All of the Pearl headjoints will fit the 665, so you can always upgrade it later. The only thing I would have gained by going up to the Quantz Coda model that mattered was the D# roller and a C#roller.(Which i really like!) However, it was not a deal stopper. I bought one because it had the best projection for the price. With Pearl flutes, it is all aobut the features and the headjoint. I am still to try out these flutes but welcome any feedback before I do. Can anybody tell me if the extra money for an all silver flute (765) is worth it? In other words is an all silver flute better than just a silver head? Is the 765 better in any other way? Also, would a Dolce be a better instrument than the 765 since this is not an all silver flute. Although the Hernals is still a nice flute I am thinking about upgrading to either Pearl 665, 765 or Dolce.
I started out with an old Grassi flute when I was a student and have used Jupiter, Deford, Gemeinhardt flutes, and now have a Hernals (anybody know this brand?). but would really appreciate your thoughts on the following. Now I know and have read all previous posts about which brand/type is better etc. I am an amateur flutist, picking up the flute after 10 years not playing and feel I should step up and buy a better flute.
